What the next ninety minutes look like

No surprises, no upsell moment at the end. Here is the whole sequence, written out, so you can decide whether it is worth your Saturday before you book it.

Before you arrive

Bring the clubs you play now, even the ones you are embarrassed by. Wear golf shoes if you own them. Eat something. A fitting involves more swings than a normal range session and people who skip lunch tend to fade in the last twenty minutes, which quietly biases everything we measure.

Do not warm up somewhere else first. We want to see the swing you bring to a first tee, not the one you find after a bucket.

01

The interview, about fifteen minutes

We sit on the couch and talk. Where you play, how often, what your misses look like, whether anything hurts, what you are hoping changes. If you have a handicap we will ask for it; if you do not, we will ask what a normal round looks like instead. This part is not filler. Roughly half of what shapes the session comes out of it, particularly for golfers whose bodies have changed since they bought their clubs.

02

Static measurements, about five minutes

Height, wrist-to-floor, hand size, and glove size. These do not determine your final spec — anyone who fits you off a chart alone is guessing — but they set the sensible starting point and they catch the obvious cases, like a five-foot-two golfer who has been playing standard-length irons for a decade.

03

Baseline with your own clubs

Face tape goes on, and you hit your current club until a pattern appears. We are recording three things: where on the face you make contact, how your tempo splits between backswing and downswing, and how wide the dispersion is. This is the honest comparison point. Every change later in the session gets measured against it rather than against a manufacturer's claim.

04

Weight, first and alone

Total club weight is the variable golfers feel most and understand least, so it goes first. We move up and down the weight range with everything else held constant. For many older golfers the session effectively ends here, because the right weight solves the problem they came in with and every later change is a refinement.

05

Length and lie

Length is tested by swinging, not by holding a club against your wrist. Once length settles, lie follows from the strike marks on the sole board. Getting these two wrong makes every other specification a negotiation with a mistake, which is why they come before head selection.

06

Flex profile and bend behaviour

Now the shaft's stiffness distribution — how it loads, where it bends, how it releases relative to your tempo. Letters on the label are close to meaningless across brands, so we test profiles rather than shopping for an "S." A golfer with a smooth, long backswing and one with a quick, short one may need the same printed flex and completely different profiles.

07

Head selection, last

Counterintuitive to most people, and it is deliberate. Once the delivery is right, head choice is mostly about forgiveness, launch, and what you enjoy looking at. Doing it first means fitting a shaft to a head you picked for its appearance, which is the wrong order.

08

Grip, and then the sheet

Size, material, and build-up. Undersized grips are the single most common uncorrected fault we see in golfers with larger hands or arthritic fingers. Then we print your specification: model, shaft, length, swing weight, lie, loft, and grip build, on paper, in your hand before you leave.

Why one variable at a time

If we changed shaft and head together and the result improved, we would not know which change did it, and neither would you. Sessions run a little longer this way. They also produce a spec you can reason about a year later when something feels off.

After the session

If you build here, the order goes to the bench and you get a call when it starts and another when it finishes — usually five to twelve days apart. If you build elsewhere, the sheet has everything a competent shop needs. Either way you have sixty days of free adjustment on anything that leaves this building.

Come back for a spec check in a year or two. Clubs drift, grips wear, and bodies change. That visit is thirty minutes and forty-five dollars.

Book the block that fits

Single category, two-category, or the whole bag. The rate card lays out what each one covers.
